Cupro—The Vegan Silk That’s Just As Luxurious

Cupro is a regenerated cellulose fiber derived from wood fiber and cotton linter (the ultrafine, silky fibers that are a waste byproduct of the ginning process).

Cupro is produced by treating cotton cellulose with cuprammonium salt. While this process unfortunately does needs water to clean the fibers, the end result is something beautiful and biodegradable that actually decomposes easily in soil. 

This fabric is used as a silk substitute since it has the ability to drape beautifully like silk but breathes and washes easily like cotton.  Like wool and silk it is cool to wear in the summer and warm in the winter.

Cupro drapes beautifully and looks and feels like silk on your skin. It takes dye beautifully achieving rich deep colors, is hypo-allergenic, anti-static and retains its shape well.

One might assume that there’s no great vegan and sustainable alternative to silk. Indeed, until recently, that was the case. Enter Cupro – silk’s cruelty-free alternative.


It's our most sustainable fabric as bamboo requires no use of pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers or water to grow, it draws moisture from the air and grows very fast using little space. Its is a very clever and tough species of grass. Bamboo has four way stretch capabilities, it is thermo regulating and has the ability to repel odors which is very useful for yoga and active wear.

Organic Cotton

Organic cotton is the same as standard cotton, except it is grown without the use of chemical pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or genetic engineering. Cotton that is grown organically improves soil quality and often uses less water than conventionally-grown cotton.

Organic cotton retains all the qualities you love about traditional cotton; it's soft, breathable and easy to care for. Because it's grown without the use of harmful chemicals, you can feel good about looking great!


Modal is a eco-friendly alternative to cotton and considered a bio-based fabric because it is made from the wood pulp of beech trees. Like Cupro, Model is also referred to as "artificial silk," modal is soft, smooth and drapes well. It also breathes well and is very absorbent.

OEKO-TEX Certified Polyester / Polyamide

The polyester and polyamide we use is a synthetic material, engineered for performance & durability. It is however OEKO-TEX® Certified and we consider the product to be an eco-conscious choice when the clothes is used to its fullest potential. Its versatility eliminates the need for other fitness clothing that wear out quickly and by having clothes that last longer we need to waste less and use less energy and water. Where possible, we will replace this material with recycled polyester / polyamide like we have done in our Illusion Leggings and Illusion Bandeau. We will continue to do so in future products as long as it does not compromise durability and performance.  


Besides being entirely natural and helping preserve myriad species, there is very little processing involved in the extraction of cork. The ecological footprint from extraction until the final product is incredibly low compared to that of plastic or leather production.

The reason for such a low ecological footprint lies in two qualities of cork: it is both recyclable and biodegradable. This means that even during the manufacturing process, cork waste is reused and ground to make agglomerated cork products, never going to waste.

Cork is natural, renewable and recyclable, it is biodegradable and 100% environmentally friendly. Our cork originates in the cork oak forests located in the Iberian Peninsula (Portugal and Spain), very close to our factories which keeps the carbon footprint of shipping this material to a minimum.

Recognized by its unique aesthetic and the qualities it imprints to products, it’s one of the best alternatives to leather and plastics. 

Because it is harvested only from the bark of the cork oak tree (which means the tree keeps on living and helping to clean our air) it is one of the most highly renewable and eco-friendly resources on the planet.
