Meet Hrönn Kold Sigurdardottir, our Icelandic ambassador!
One of our wonderful Moonchild ambassadors, Hrönn, is one amazing woman who has been practicing and teaching for years. Practicing yoga with her is a combination of fun, intensity and insight into different themes that she chooses to work with in your teaching. These themes “invite you to go deep into your practice and cultivate qualities of the heart that support your growth as a human being”.
Hrönn has lived in Copenhagen since 1995, but is a native Icelander. Hrönn is Anusara Inspired and Rasa Yoga Teacher and is certified with Yoga Alliance. Along with this, Hrönn also offers energy healing. Hrönn regularly teaches classes, workshops, courses, retreats and also provides teacher training.
What does yoga mean to you?
“Yoga is for me both a method and a practice that brings deeper awareness of oneself and the world around us. Practicing yoga is the most powerful method that joins the breath, body and heart into a soulful union - and that union feels like home. Through my practice of asana, pranayama and meditation I’ve observed deeply rooted patterns of movement and thought that have kept me stuck and prohibited me from growing. But it’s also through these practices that I grow and these old patterns are challenged. To be a yogini means for me to have the willingness and openness to look at myself clearly and transform the stuff that does not serve the greater whole, it is to approach all of life with kindness and non-violence and to participate actively in making this world a better place."
What makes you happy?
“This quote from J. Dooley "Life is not a problem to be solved but a gift to be enjoyed” pretty much sums is up. To be alive and to live the life that I live makes me happy and deeply grateful. When my children are happy, I feel happiness. Looking into the eyes of my beloved and feel his touch on my skin is pure happiness. Surges of bubbling energy rise in my body when I dance and move. Being in nature and drawing in all her abundance through all my senses makes me happy. The night sky, northern lights and flickering stars remind me of how blessed I am. A cup of nice hot cocoa and a book in my hand brings a smile on my face. Witnessing the transformation that students go through on their yoga journey is also an aspect of my life that makes my really happy. And so much more…...
What is your favorite yoga to practice?
“I love to practice a fusion of form and flow (Vinyasa & Hatha) where we work with clear strong alignment and then allow creativity to guide the flow. In my own practice, I try to keep it balanced so I don’t always go for the fiery, dynamic practices - which is very much my pitta nature, but also put in gentle hatha and even restorative classes regularly. Also, I very much enjoy chanting, inspirational stories (personal or mythological) and humor. So I look for these qualities when I attend classes with other teachers."
What do you love about Moonchild Yoga Wear?
“_Moonchild first drew my attention because of the name. I just love it - child of the moon! Then the beautiful colors, patterns inspired by nature and the eco-friendly approach all make me proud to wear Moonchild yoga clothes."
