5 Tips to Celebrate the Spring Equinox

It's time for the Spring Equinox! This celebratory day is today!

The Spring Equinox, otherwise known as the Northward Equinox marks the point in time when the Sun crosses the celestial equator from South to North.

Simply put, the Spring Equinox can be seen as the mark of the end of Winter and the beginning of Spring.

As with each Solstice or Equinox, we like to take a moment to reflect and ground ourselves during this time. As a Solstice or Equinox marks a time for change in the seasons, it can also mark a time for change in your life. Whether they be small or large, it doesn't really matter, what matters is that you reflect on the past months. After reflecting, then you are able to set intentions for what comes next.

In honor of the Spring Equinox we have collected a list of suggestions for how you can celebrate the Spring Equinox and use this special time to ground yourself.

1. Rise with the Sun

The days are getting longer which means the Sun rises earlier and sets later. Having more natural daylight can be incredibly powerful for our bodies and worth appreciating. Whether you start on the 20th to make the start of Spring or maybe start the day after, the idea is to rise with the Sun and start each day with appreciation for its warmth and power.

2. Mediation

Whether it be a part of your daily routine or something you practice sporadically, or maybe this will be your first time, the Spring Equinox is the perfect time ground yourself through meditation. Make this a quiet, sacred and peaceful moment for you and you alone. Light some candles, maybe diffuse some essential oils or burn some sage and set the setting for a powerful and calming meditation. See this as the starting point for a grounded and mindfull Spring.

3. Yoga

Of course we had to include yoga in the Spring Equinox ritual. Similar to meditation, use your yoga practice to ground yourself and be with your inner being. Take the time to move your body however feels perfect for you on this day. See this as an opportunity to appreciate and embrace your ability to move and the power that this movement gives you. You can potentially use this as an opportunity to make an intention to commit more to your practice or maybe a commitment to expanding your practice by trying new things and challenging yourself. The opportunities are endless - just listen to your body.

4. Immerse yourself in nature

Whether it be through a walk, going for a swim or simply sitting ourself in the grass with the Sun shining down on you, just get outside and embrace the beauty of nature. Spring is a time where we see everything come back to life after a cold and dark winter. It's magical to witness, so don't miss out on it!

5. Plant something

Similar to immersing yourself in nature, planting something can symbolise this moment for you as a beautiful human being. You plant this seed, whether it be a flower, a tree or a plant, as a symbol of yourself and your intentions. Then you have to care and nurture this little seed, just as you have to care and nurture yourself. Then, just as you will watch and see this beautiful seed grow and flourish, you will see yourself grow and flourish as well.

However you choose to celebrate the Spring Equinox, let it be an opportunity for you to ground and re-align yourself with your intentions. Take this opportunity to see and appreciate all the beauty that is around you and within you.

Sending so much love, warmth and energy to you.

Much love, The Moonchild Team
