How do I take care of my Moonchild Yoga Mat?

Caring for Your Moonchild Yoga Mat
We hope your Moonchild yoga mat will support you through countless hours of movement, mindfulness, and practice.
To help you enjoy the best possible experience and extend the life of your mat, we have put together this simple care guide.
Let Your Mat Dry After Practice
After each practice, especially a sweaty one, wipe your mat with a damp cloth and allow it to air dry before rolling it up.
Heading home straight from yoga class? No problem. Simply roll up your mat, take it home, and unroll it as soon as possible to let it dry completely.
Keeping your mat dry helps preserve its grip, appearance, and longevity.
Clean Only When Needed
Your Moonchild yoga mat is designed to be durable and long-lasting, but like all natural materials, it benefits from gentle care.
We recommend cleaning your mat only when necessary using the Moonchild Yoga Mat Cleaner.
How to clean your mat:
- Shake the cleaner well before use.
- Spray lightly onto the mat surface.
- Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
- Allow the mat to dry completely before rolling it up.
Our gentle, planet-friendly cleaner refreshes your mat without compromising its performance. Please avoid harsh detergents, abrasive products, or excessive cleaning, as these can accelerate wear over time.
Protect Your Mat from Excessive Sunlight
Moonchild yoga mats are made from biodegradable materials. While this is better for the planet, it also means that prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause your mat to break down more quickly.
A little sunshine is perfectly fine, but we recommend storing your mat away from direct sunlight whenever possible.
How to Roll Your Yoga Mat
For the best performance and shape retention, always let your mat dry before rolling it up.
Roll your mat with the top surface, the smooth coloured side featuring the Moonchild moon phase print, facing outward. This helps your mat lie flatter when you unroll it for your next practice.
If the Floor Is Dusty
If you practice on a dusty or unclean surface, dirt from the floor can transfer onto the top of your mat when rolled up.
To avoid this:
- Fold the mat lengthwise so the two short ends meet.
- Ensure the practice surfaces are folded against each other.
- Roll the folded mat from one end.
This prevents the top surface from coming into contact with the underside of the mat and helps keep your practice area clean.
Natural Wear and Beautiful Memories
Because of the absorbent and hygienic materials we use, your skin's natural oils may occasionally leave marks on the surface of the mat.
To minimise staining, avoid practising immediately after applying body oils, oily creams, or similar products.
The good news is that most marks will gradually fade over time or after gentle cleaning. We like to think of them as part of your mat's journey, small reminders of the many hours, breaths, and moments spent on your practice.
Enjoy Your Moonchild Yoga Mat
We hope your mat becomes a trusted companion for years to come.
With Love & Light,
